Morning routine
We all know that email and internet can consume a lot of our time and deplete our energy from time to time. So would it be a good idea to start your day with these potentially all consuming and energy draining activities?
Personally I like to start my day with a few pages of journaling right after I wake up. I go over the day that passed and think about the day ahead. I write anything that comes to mind, private stuff and work experiences and some feelings here and there too of course.
One thing that I never leave out is a short list with top priorities for the day. I jot down the most important tasks (mostly, but not all, business related) so I know what to focus on for that day.
When I am done journaling and I have finished a short 10 minute meditation, I make sure I put my short to do list on my desk, so when I get to work I immediately work on my top priorities (which rarely are checking email, facebook, and the local event calendar). This way I have reached most of my daily goals before the clock strikes 11:00 AM PST, and that I can tell you, is a terrific feeling!
